Make sure: A poem by  Laura Grace

 

In the civil war we're facing

Get in God's army now
He's into truth and Mercy
He'll strengthen and endow
His people with great power
and victory over sin
He'll set the captives free
and saint and God will win!

Don't despise his mercy

do not fall from Grace
If you're not sure what side you're on
It's time to seek his face
The southern gents who fought
to keep their slaves and wealth
surely lost their lives,
their joy and and peace, and health

And those who recognize

What Jesus wants to do
will surely get their armor
and fight this battle too
We're fighting for the gospel
that sets the captives free
We don't hold slaves for profit-
We want the blind to see
We're not concerned with scolding
a woman caught in sin
Now Joshua used Rahab (a prostitute)
to hide the spies and win!

Our message isn't difficult

It's simple and it's true
If you want mercy from the Lord
You need to give it, too
and if you want forgiveness
forgive those who offend
Cause if you don't you'll find yourself
in pain that never ends

Don't suppress the truth

don't lift yourself above
the Lord of Hosts, the mighty king
who's gentle as a dove
he's a God of Mercy
and Lord of Vengeance Too
He said revenge is his
he knows just what to do
He alone is wise
His wisdom we will share
But no one shares his throne,
so fight him, if you dare
Ask for understanding
seek him in this time
one more story, just for you
before we end this rhyme

King Saul became an enemy to God and David too

and by God's Grace King David
walked merciful and true
Refusing to take vengeance
upon his enemy
Saul was so in Torment,
he took his life, you see

Grace to you dear person

who longs to be like him
His grace, it will empower you
To stay in there and win
God is our instructor
our avenger too
You haven't time to fight with him
surrender or you'll lose!

Give Jesus all the glory

give him all your heart
You won't regret it, child of his
He's loved you from the start
He is your redeemer
Your shepherd and the King
He is only interested
in giving everything
It takes to get you home
to live with him forever
So do not heed the lies
that come with stormy weather
If faith is ebbing low

You know where you should go

sit and read his written word
and let the river flow
The river of his spirit
is flowing to this day
seek it friends, and then go out
be willing to obey
He'll show you, he will show you
he promised that he will,
ask him for direction,
and then get very still
Trust in him and not yourself
and not in human minds
You will find his Grace divine
will be there everytime
